Snow Day

Today we are home from school because of a Texas snow day which translates to a little bit of snow (just enough for a miniature snowman) and some good family time. We had some great gift cards to Gatti Town ( a pizza and game place here in Texas) and Tuesday happens to be half price game day so we had 3 hours of fun. Skee Ball, Basketball, video games and we were almost the only people in there! I haven't laughed and smiled that much in a long time - great idea dad! We have battled and defeated the flu this past week so not a whole lot of anything else has happened here in our casa but rest, fluids and meals. Great friends have been a super help in keeping us well stocked with soup, veggies and tissue!! What a blessing they have been.

Our son is getting ready to crossover from cub scouts to boy scouts in a month - super proud of him for sticking with scouting from tiger scouts clear through Webelos II and am looking forward to his growth as a young man and a leader as he ventures into Boy Scouts and on towards the end goal of Eagle Scout.

Off to enjoy some more family time with popcorn and a movie on Netflix with the family. I am so glad that God blesses us with these days to slow down and enjoy family.

We are off and running

Okay - kids REALLY need to go back to school and I am ready for routine again. Sleeping late is great and being in our PJ's rocks - but now I am beginning to wonder if they will want to wear them to school and will I ever find the tennis shoes that match to send them out the door in. Laundry today - I don't know why I can't wrap my educated head around that 2 loads a day keep the crazy laundry monster away!!

Thinking about a couple of other projects - 3 boxes a day. I am going to take before, during and after pictures so I can see the "greatness" when it's done. I hope that I can tackle 3 a day. I have this burning urge to get my hair cut and then color it (at home of course.) Maybe that will perk up the daily grind.

Hope you have a blessed day and find the good in people. It is there - just believe!

Ready Set GO for 2013

Here comes 2013 and I am glad to see it right around the corner. 2012 was a bear and I am ready to move onward and upward - so cliche but so very true for us right now. Thought I would get a jump on my 2013 and get my self organized and rolling before the party and the official beginning. After all it takes 21 days to make a habit - so they say. A habit that is bad for you sure seems to be SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than 21 days. I would venture to say that eating a pint of ice cream for 2-3 days in a row would be habit forming LONG before you hit the 21 day mark. Just a thought.

What am I going to do this marvelous 2013 since the Mayans were wrong and the world did not end on December 21st? Thanks for asking. I am going to lower my blood pressure, organize my house with 4 of the best ladies I know and tackle being a stay at home / work from home mom like no one has ever seen. Tall order for a girl who doesn't have a single clean fork in the house right now and if I had to get dressed to see someone other than my best friends - I would need time to run the washer and the dryer.

Of course I would like the veggie garden and to run a 5K but let's be real folks - Rome was not built in a day and this miracle may take all 365 days of 2013 and possibly more. Baby steps folks baby steps. Needless to say a girl has to dream and dream I do. Of living in Italy, having a BIG organized kitchen and to know what to do in that kitchen, to go on fun creative dates with my fireman every week and have children who can wash their own clothes and run a vacuum without trying to suck up the cat's tail!! Dreams - gotta have them.

Stay tuned - it will be a wild ride!
